“Society is messed up” are the only words I could get in during a conversation with a man who my team and I encountered while doing outreach.  It was Tuesday morning around 10:00 am.  My PATH Outreach teammate and I encountered two homeless men.  She was talking to the man to the right of me and I was talking to the man to the left of me; let’s call him Fred. This man was very intoxicated for 10:00 a.m.  Fred was making a scene around us.  He was not yelling AT me, but TO me.  He had the chance to vent to a person who actually treated him like a person.  Some of the things he said to me: “I stand here at this bus stop all day and not one person looks me in the eye…I know I smell and look dirty but that does not give the right to…
