On Thursday, I am leaving for a two-week vacation. If I’ve been doing my job right, our congregation won’t even notice I’m gone, but will be glad to see me when I return. Somehow, I don’t think I’m quite there with all of the things I’ve discovered that only I know how to run, turn on or find…but we’ll keep working on it.
In the meantime, I have some assignments for our congregation to complete while I’m away.
1. Come to worship. Worship is not good because of me. It’s good because of God. And even though the Bible assures us that God is present whenever two or three gather in God’s name, when you’ve worked for 10 to 20 hours on a message, it’s nice if a few more people than that show up.
2. Check in on Dessie Williams, Mary Beebe and Miss Beverly by phone, snail mail or in person over the next two-and-a-half weeks. You will be much appreciated by them and me. Wouldn’t hurt to check in with Ross as well.
3. Invite someone to come to our Camp Comes to the City Vacation Bible School. More info HERE.
4. Check in on our intern Cameron whom we have tossed in to the deep end after only a week of being here. See if there’s anything he needs help with and encourage him along the way.
5. Wear sunscreen.
It’s going to be a great summer at First Pres. Blessings to you all.
