I’ve spent the last week worshipping and laughing and playing, and it was a lot of fun. But there was method to the madness. While silence and solemnity has a place in a spiritual lives, we should never dismiss the importance that play plays in our spiritual and human development. When we laugh together and play together, we catch glimpses of the kingdom. When we laugh together and play together, we are more likely to share our hurts and fears with one another. We are more likely to lean on one another. We are more likely to be the people God created us to be.
When you have a bit of time, take a few minutes to watch this video on why play is something we should take more seriously.
